Curating Career Life Stories: How Did I Get Here: Episode 9 – An interview with Abbe Guarino
Check out the life story reflection of Abbe Guarino, grad student at the Teachers College at Columbia. Her journey follows her love for languages, learning new cultures, studying abroad in Spain for part of her undergrad, teaching English in Chile then Brazil, requiring her to learn another new language, Portuguese, in order to teach and live there.
Hear how she’s discovering what’s next for her career, releasing the notion that the next step needs to be perfect. Her mantra “if I feel 80% sure, then I’ll be alright!” She’s self-aware and knows how important it is to take care of herself to be at her best, especially during times of major change. A piece of advice from Abbe – “make sure you’re doing “something”, it doesn’t have to be the perfect thing, anything is better than being stagnant, and it will steer you in a direction.”
