Curating Career Life Stories: How Did I Get Here? Episode 53 – An interview with Katie Brinkley
Join me for the career story reflections of Katie Brinkley, Social Media Strategist. As an only child she’s super active, so her parents keep her super busy with sports, horseback riding, acting and modeling. She keeps herself busy by creating a radio show in her bedroom, commercials and all.
Thanks to an amazing teacher her junior year and the influence of her dad, she gets involved with her college radio station leading to an internship at 850 KOA and then a full-time job as a sportscaster — dream job #1. Except it wasn’t financially lucrative. A friend suggests she become a flight attendant, not really of interest but could be good experience interviewing – dream job #2, traveling the country. When the airline gets sold, she’s drawn back to the sports scene, and because she was always dabbling with social media she lands a sports marketing role – dream job #3! Until she’s laid off when that company is sold, prompting her to start her own social media business – dream job #4!
Characteristics that have served Katie well: “I don’t stop. I have a strong drive; I want to be successful and I want my client’s to be successful. I set goals and am constantly learning and growing.”
